Our Story

From family musical memories to a curriculum for every child.

Nate Woodall, Co-Founder

I stepped away from my touring job at the end of 2025 after feeling for several months that it was time for a change in my professional relationship with music. I didn’t have a proper plan or vision of what that might look like; only a deep feeling that God would create a path and I needed to be available to follow it. After the holidays settled, one of my sisters, Bekah (who runs all my socials and marketing), asked me if I’d be interested in teaching her girls some general music lessons. They were homeschooling on the go with RV life at the time so I started to put a lot of thought into ways to structure remote lessons that would be substantial, impactful, and engaging despite the on-screen connection. What began as a desire to help my nieces develop a genuine love and understanding for music turned into a bit of an obsession. I spent the winter and spring lesson-planning, developing activities, and learning to teach on camera. By summer, I had developed an entire 36-week homeschool music curriculum…without a name.

I went through idea after idea, but couldn’t land on one. Coming up empty-handed, I started to think back to early musical memories and experiences that had a lasting impact on me. The piano in Mema and Papa’s living room, my dad playing his Gibson guitar with the rainbow strap in church, singing Bible school bangers like “Father Abraham” and “This Little Light of Mine,” being in awe of my cousin Jesse’s early guitar skills, my Uncle Tom leading worship with a killer house band, my Mema casually shredding the grand piano while my Papa sang from the pulpit, and many more. They all happened at Zion Lake, the church/campground that belonged to my Mema and Papa.

Zion Lake Music Foundry is a family-operated business built upon a lifetime of musical experiences and everything I’ve learned in twenty years of professional music-making. I believe every child deserves to grow up hearing the world more richly. Not to win competitions or impress anyone—but to understand what they’re listening to, to feel it in their bones, and to walk through life with the confidence and critical thinking that real musical understanding builds.

This isn’t theory for me. It’s decades of stages, studios, classrooms, and compositions—turned into something that can change the trajectory of your child’s creativity and musical confidence, lesson by lesson, week by week.
